Dear Friends,
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Your prayers were so evident during the week before Easter when volunteers from First Baptist Church, Cary, NC were here partnering with First Baptist, Copiapo in reaching two strategic neighborhoods in Copiapo and in conducting revival services at the downtown church. At some of the services there was standing room only and the response to the Bible Clubs was almost overwhelming with not only children present, but also teenagers and adults. It was a fantastic week. Click here to see pictures and learn more about this mission trip.
As you go into the spring season, we are going into fall and the weather is beginning to get cooler. We are thrilled to see the churches in Copiapo beginning to grow. At Second Baptist, there has been an influx of youth and the church is looking towards supporting their pastor as a full-time pastor. Pray that they will be able to do so. Bethesda Church continues to have a missionary spirit and is going out to Piedra Colgada (Hanging Rock) every Saturday this year (last year it was just every other Saturday). Pray that they will continue to grow as a church and that the work in Piedra Colgada will be the beginnings of a simple church in this small community.
We were blessed recently as doors are opening for us to minister at the University of Atacama. It turns out that years ago a missionary couple who worked in this area helped a young man as he was struggling to learn English and preparing to go to the US to study. Although he has never accepted Christ, he is now in a key position at the university and is open to our coming to do some work there. We are praying for his salvation as well. We never know what kind of fruits our work is going to produce in the future. Thank you to Ken and Devina Parks who worked so faithfully in Copiapo in the past.
There are two young ladies preparing to come to Copiapo to help us out during the months of July and August. Katrina Gragg is a student at Northeastern State University in Talequah, Oklahoma. She will be here for two weeks from July 9 - 23. Sophia Rammel is a student of the University of North Carolina (UNC) and is also a member of First Baptist Church, Cary who sent the mission team in March. Sophia will be coming for about six weeks in July and August. Pray for these girls as they prepare to serve as short-term missionaries in northern Chile. They will be helping to teach English classes as well as helping with other outreach projects throughout Copiapo.
Blessings,
Kip and Iva Kimbrough
